How to obtain a City of Rosemère Building permit

Building permit

A building construction, transformation, repair, expansion or addition project is prohibited without obtaining a building permit. (Entry into force of Regulation 1006)

A building permit is required for any renovation of a building or construction if the cost of the intervention exceeds the amount of $3,000.

A permit is required regardless of the cost for the removal or construction of walls, partitions, portions of walls or partitions, the removal or sectioning of beams, joists or other supports, for the removal, movement or the blocking of stairs, exits or windows, or any change in the current materials on the exterior.

All constructions which are likely to modify the water regime, to harm the free circulation of water during periods of flooding, to disturb wildlife or plant habitats, to endanger the safety of people and property or which are located in the floodplain are prohibited without obtaining a building permit.

In addition, all constructions which are likely to destroy or modify the vegetation cover of the banks, or to expose the soil, or to affect its stability, or which encroach on the coastline, are prohibited without the authorization of a building permit. (By-law 1006 – Permits and certificates, article 28)
